What if someone suggested to you, that the Art of Building to Events was one of the most essential skills to master, in order to succeed in Network Marketing ? What if you could take that one step further and knew, without a shadow of doubt, that every hugely successful F/T Leader used Events to build their business? Well ~ the fact is, Events, of all types, sizes and shapes are an essential foundation of all of our business building efforts. Allow me, if you will, to paint a brief picture of some of the most common Events we all promote and/or lead on a consistent basis.

 #1. “Connecting Experience” (Quality Peeps, Strong Posture & Qualify)

#2. “Invitation to Look and/or Tasting/Sampling” (Share Story with Passion, Address Taste Concern up Front & Set Appt for Duplicatible Presentation)

#3. “Presenting” (Based on Their Need/Goals, Professional & Immediate Follow-up)

#4. “Enrolling/Follow-up” (Assume they’re Ready, Non Attachment)

#5. “Conference Call(s)” (Paint a Bigger Picture)

#6. “3-Way Calls” (Introduce them to Community of Support)

#7. “Education/Belief Building” (Leverage our Time, Immerse Them in New Environment & Armor Them)

#8. “In-Home and/or Regional Events” (Leverage the Power of Real/Local Stories, Be a Team Player & Support the Events ~ Step Up & Show Up!)

#9. “Your Company Training Events” (Educate, Build Belief in Company/Industry & Become Part of Larger Community)

#10. Annual Convention (Most Powerful Event of the Year ~ Non-negotiable)

 Summary: Each event Leads to the next, which leads to the Next, each Event further solidifying and building a rock-solid Business Partner for Life! And remember, when we “Commit”, we give our Leaders permission to “Commit” as well! BE the LEADER that Others are Looking For, become MASTERFUL at Building to Events ~ and watch your Dreams Become Reality!!

If there’s one thing that we have learned through the years in this incredible industry, is that true success in Network Marketing comes from co-creating a large, passionate & loyal Organization of Leaders & Customers. And one of the key principles in developing a Team is Celebrating, Uplifting & Edifying those responsible for our success! So, with your permission, allow me to present some questions that will hopefully cause each of us to have a closer look at how we can Uplift others around us at a higher level.

 #1. When is the last time that we were on the phone, engaged in a passionate & excited Celebration with a member of our Team? If it hasn’t been in the past few days…why?

 #2. Let’s write down our last 1 to 3 new Consultants that ourselves or one of our key Team Leaders promoted….okay, have the names…. now we ask the key question, how many others did I notify and include in Celebrating their achievement?

 #3. Now let’s write down the 1 to 3 most powerful health results that have happened on our Team…okay….now we ask the same question, how many other Leaders did we have celebrate with them?

 #4. Here’s one that I am re-committed to…When was the last time that I selected an inspirational Card and then sat down for a few minutes to write out a brief, heart-felt thanks to an individual who is helping us co-create our Dream?

 #5. Lastly, let’s ask ourselves one of the most important questions of all: What is our next Goal, that will stretch us, that once we accomplish it, we can have our next personal Celebration? In case you’re wondering, isn’t this possibly a bit self-serving? My response would be, until we learn to easily and freely Celebrate our own accomplishments, how are we going to genuinely Celebrate & Uplift those around us? It’s all about building our “Edification” muscle…bit by bit, eh. And it all begins with that next call, that next heart-felt written message, and the next “Yahoo” Celebration about our next task that we committed to and then accomplished. By the way…isn’t that what Leadership is all about, “Leading By Example”!?

SHARING A COUPLE OF PERSONAL SECRETS TO SUCCESS:

#1. Edifying Others - I’ve learned that my Success Team and the individuals that I Coach/Mentor will go the extra mile(s) for recognition. Joy & I enjoy doing this many ways. In our Team Newsletter we spotlight the Top Recruiters, Income Earners & Special Advancements. On our Team Calls, we always spotlight and celebrate special milestones. I set 7 day pushes and award cash or tool incentives fot those that hit their Goals on a weekly basis.

#2. Life-long Student – One of the huge keys to every highly successful performer that I’ve met is that they are always learning, they remain the life-long student. One the keys to fast-track success is to find a handful of individuals who have achieved the level of success and balanced life that we have set for ourselves. Then systematically learn how and why they accomplished it. And, if I may add, not in a narrow window of our own particular company, reach out and gather mentors in the industry as a whole. There’s lots of time to pave our own way, once we’re the “guru”, eh!

EMPLOYING OURSELVES: “GettingWhat Truly Matters…Done!“

Having spent over 18 years in the Network Marketing industry, one of the biggest challenges to Newbies & Veterans alike is the simple (we complicate it…LOL) challenge of employing ourselves.

Most of us, with a few exceptions, were force fed the employee mindset and/or the brick and mortar “manager” mindset. Both involve a “Clock-in & Clock-in”, accountability system. Meaning, we are being told or (in rare cases) asked…what to do and when to do it!  I struggle with this as much as anybody, although I have found some simple actions, or what I call “gauges” that help me increase my productivity. And as the integrity mentor, Stephen Covey, eloquently lays out… “Putting first things first”! Or, doing what will produce actual results FIRST. #1. Work off of a List!

In the words of Brian Tracy, let’s plan our work and work our plan. A simple To Do List, which we prioritize according to “What Matters Most” (A, B & C). Focus and accomplish the A list before moving on. Avoid “reactive living & strive for pro-active living”.
- Brian Tracy quote: People with clear, written goals, accomplish far more in a shorter period of time than people without them could ever imagine.

#2. Determine what is the at the Core of Your Success?

Since my #1 business focus is building a large, global Network Marketing Organization I’ve found the Essence or CORE activity of my Day is the “LIVE Conversations with QUALITY People”. Everything else is secondary to the Personal Connecting & Prospecting time with NEW peeps on a Daily Basis.
– Instead of gnashing my teeth and dreading this time….I’ve learned to put on my “Sorting/Sifting Hat and dive into these conversations with a strong posture and a Do or Die Attitude! (Wonderful tool on this is Paula Pritchard’s book “Owning Yourself” - http://tinyurl.com/284of7m

#3. Eat the Crust First!

Another mentor, from years ago, who was a “Top Banana” in his first venture used to use a fun metaphor for “Doing First Things First”. He used to love fried baloney sandwiches. Tho, he REALLY loved the gooey middle of the sandwich. So, to truly “savor” the best part…he would eat the dreaded crust, FIRST! That way, when he got to the middle, the least favorite part was already behind him.
Now I personally don’t crave fried, baloney sandwiches, though hopefully you get the point, my friends! In my case, when I get my LIVE. NEW conversations in FIRST…the rest of the day is an easy, coasting glide!!

#4. Build the Muscle!

Celebrate the small accomplishments in this area of your life…and they truly will compound over time, which will lead you to waking up one morning and you realize; “WOW, I “AM” A MASTER OF MY TIME AND I USE MY TIME WISELY & EFFECTIVELY!

#5. Copy Successful Peeps!

This last Tip is one of the most powerful…successful Leaders before us have walked, crawled, stumbled, fallen, got back up and flew down our chosen Path. And many of them have recorded their struggles & successes. Let’s become the students and Learn from those who have walked before. Keep our Egos in Check and always remember, that it’s truly about Uplifting, Serving & Edifying others!

Remember, successful Leaders “Do Today What Others Won’t So They Can Have What Others Don’t. — in other words “They are willing to be uncomfortable today & tomorrow, so they can take a quantum leap next month and generate massive success next quarter!”
